What is the reason for the dregs after the laser cutting machine is cut?

Laser cutting machines are widely used in daily life, ranging from electric vehicles to pots and pans. Laser cutting machines are faster and more precise than traditional cutting methods. Its working principle is to use a high-energy laser beam to heat the target area to melt it to achieve the purpose of cutting. There may be dross on the workpiece during cutting. What is the reason? How to solve it? Let us take a look at it together.

What is the reason for the dregs after the laser cutting machine is cut? We call those remaining metal workpiece cutting back of melt dross. Laser cutting machine during processing will produce a lot of heat, generally speaking, the heat generated during cutting of the workpiece will be spread throughout the seam along the cut, and then the workpiece is sufficiently cooled. However, when cutting small-hole workpieces, the outside of the hole can be sufficiently cooled, and the inside of the hole has a small space for heat diffusion, and the heat is too concentrated to cause excessive slagging. Further, when the cutting plate, the material deposited on the surface of the molten metal and the heat generated when perforating the auxiliary gas stream will accumulate disorder, excessive heat input, causing dross.

How to solve it? When dross occurs during cutting, first find out the cause from the following points, and adjust after finding the dross to solve the dross generation.

1. The laser output power is not enough

When cutting thick plates, the power is not enough to melt the entire plate. If the power can be adjusted, you can increase the power to continue testing whether it can be cut off. If the power has been adjusted to the maximum, you need to replace the laser with a higher power.

2. The focus of the laser beam is deviated

When the focus is too close or too far will affect cutting quality, can be adjusted by checking, be adjusted according to its deviated position.

3. The pressure of the auxiliary gas is not enough

The auxiliary gas can blow off the slag during cutting and cool the heat-affected zone of cutting. If the air pressure is too small, the residue cannot be blown out of the workpiece or the workpiece cannot be cooled in time, resulting in the formation of dross. Just adjust the air pressure to a suitable size.

4. The cutting speed is too fast or too slow

Laser cutting feed speed is too fast can cause not time to cut off the workpiece, will form a diagonal stripe passage section, the lower region will dross. If the feed speed is too slow, over melting will occur, the cut surface will be rough as a whole, the slit will become wider, and there will be slagging on the upper part.
